Waimea™ was released in 2012 from a cross of Californian Late Cluster, Saaz, and Fuggle. It excels as a dual‑purpose hop, providing both bitterness and aromatic depth. Its flavor profile features fresh citrus, tangerine, and resinous pine.
With high alpha acids (15–19 %) and significant essential oil content (1.5–2.5 ml/100 g), including myrcene (50–60 %), Waimea™ brings sharp bitterness, aromatic richness, and strong hop character through dry hopping or whirlpool. Flavors of mandarin, grapefruit, pomelo, tropical, and pine make it perfect for IPAs, Pale Ales, and modern lagers.
